Cyber 01

TC

A1-format panel (96 cm x 66 cm), acrylic and ink. This is the final version of the character of my creation to an old comics project, written and kept in the “drawer”.
If I’m not mistaken, the original design dates back to 1982. The text of the time typed out in newsprint, and much of the material was copied (for computer, namely, had to retype everything!) and adapted with many changes and additions of new characters produced twelve years later.

“D” – It’s Showtime!

Image

The same character, in a more stylized, close to the manga and Disney style.
This drawing template would be appropriate for a book directed at children, which deals with the theme of space travel. And that was exactly what ended up happening, I developed a story that serves as a presentation for the adventure THE NEXT EXODUS.
Lighter and fun, however, highlighting the features of the main plot, space travel, and other aspects of science and technology.

Character D 01

Illustration of the character “D” for the book THE NEXT EXODUS.

From a pencil drawing, the colorization process (after the final layout scanned) is all done in Photoshop.
Some filters and plug-ins allowed change light effects, leaving the image slightly distorted.
The 27 adventure characters follow the same pattern of colorization, but not to anticipate too much, here’s just that image.

“D” [Toy Art version]

Prime 2

When I started writing the adventures of “D” and her friends around the world, and their journeys filled with action, I felt that the book could be intended for children and teenagers. And so the book was taking its own course [which confirms the thesis that the writer just formalizes what imagination tells], the tone of the story was a bit different from the original proposal.

Well, I decided since I noted the change of profile — the story had gotten a bit heavy, believe that fits better to the public juvenile-adult — who had two interesting options:
1) the original story had to have more lightness and characters who could work best for children and teenagers;
2) history as it became after the end of the first part would be better worked for the young and for adult audiences, without of course, distort the initial feature, a pop adventure.

For the first alternative, I created the animated version and stylized “D” in the same way that your friends and other characters in ‘light’ version. Is this characterization that present above.
The second alternative is based on real models, with real people. I think these characters (for the story more complex) as actors and actresses in an action movie. I like to imagine that maybe one day this is possible.
A movie with “D” would be very cool!

“D”

Prime

My “daughter”, who is always risking her life in adventures filled with action and suspense. But it is a great pride for me to write her stories, and at this point, do a periodic review on her first book, whose text is ready for more than five years. Is that a lot has happened since then, and coincidentally, the reality just imitating art (in this case, the art to which I refer is a considerable portion of the book).

Sounds crazy? Yeah, rewrite some snippets of text is needed, even more when the topic involves exactly everything that happens in the world today, since the nuclear issue that struck Japan (after the earthquake and the tsunami), passing by the geopolitical crisis in the Middle East, until reach the technological advances that will lead to other problems in the future. That’s life!

Batman – The Dark Knight

Super Heroes
This art is part of my new project, and I chose the Batman character to start the work. Is a digital illustration, made in Illustrator and then finalized in Photoshop, from a pencil sketch.
I’m doing drafts of upcoming characters, and are basically my way of honoring them, because they were inspiration for me since I was a child. Through the comics and cartoons and movies, the stories of these incredible beings and human at the same time, they became my ideal to work with graphic arts closer, more exciting and directed my style, as one of the influences that had in my learning.
I hope you enjoy it, and later, I will have more pictures.
